KAJV & Fermi Research Alliance FSCF Excavation – Fermilab Long Baseline Neutrino Facility, Lead, SD. Far Site Conventional Facilities Project. Undergound excavation and underground infrastructure.

Date: November 2020 – September 2024

The FSCF Project is for the excavation and construction of the three caverns at the 4850 level and connecting drifts. Two of the Caverns measure 500’ Long x 92’ Height x 65’ Width and the third cavern will measure 625’ Long x 36’ Height x 64’ Width. TMI will excavate about 800,000 tons of rock in the construction of the three caverns.

Goldrush Twin Declines- Cortez Mine Site (USA)

Thyssen Mining was the major contractor for the development of the Goldrush Twin Declines. Twin parallel declines were constructed to access a new deposit. Specifications called for two 18ft x 18ft modified arch profile drifts to be driven 62 feet apart for 13,000 feet each at a -3.7% decline.

Turquoise Ridge Shaft #3 Project – Golconda, N (USA)

Thyssen Mining was awarded the contract to sink a 3,250’ shaft in Northern Nevada. The shaft will be concrete lined with a finished diameter of 24’. To facilitate this work, Thyssen Mining erected the headframe and a hoist house complete with foundations and full installation of three hoists. In addition to sinking the shaft, Thyssen Mining is responsible for the procurement, installation, and commissioning of all underground and surface material handling infrastructure.

Jansen Final Liner Project (CA)

The Jansen Final Liner Project is the construction and development of a shaft liner. As part of the TRL Partnership, Thyssen Mining will complete shaft liner activities in both shafts at the Jansen Potash Project.

This project includes the engineering and execution of the final concrete and steel shaft lining of the two 9m X 1,000m deep-frozen shafts.

Cigar Lake Project (CA)

Mudjatik Thyssen Mining has completed a variety of projects at Cigar Lake Operations, such as shaft sinking, mine development and underground construction, as well as de-watering and mine remediation.

Project : Marathon’s Robinson Butane Storage Cavern
Project Location: Robinson, Illinois

In 2011 Thyssen Mining was selected to complete an underground excavation to store liquid butane, with the capacity to store 1 million barrels. After completing this excavation under budget and before schedule, Thyssen Mining was then chosen to excavate a second butane storage cavern with a capacity of 1.4 million barrels. The project completed ahead of schedule and under budget once again.

Leeville Project (USA)

In 2012 Thyssen Mining was awarded the contract for engineering and construction of the Newmont Leeville Ventilation Shaft No. 3, the first shaft sinking project in Nevada to employ ground freezing techniques.
